Heather was born in Fort Worth, Texas and was granted the best birthday present when she moved to Colorado on her 4th birthday. Heather grew up in the Denver area where she spent as much time outside and in the pool as possible. After high school graduation, Heather attended Colorado State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Botany. After spending many years coaching swimming full time, Heather decided to return to school to obtain her secondary science licensure from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Heather moved to Pagosa Springs in 2009 to complete her student teaching. In 2010 Heather spent 6 months teaching in China. Upon her return, she started teaching science at Pagosa Springs High School. In 2015 Heather introduced Project Lead the Way to the science department, this is a program where students get an introduction to biomedical sciences and can earn college credit along the way. In her spare time, Heather coaches the Pagosa Lakes Porpoises swim team, sponsors the Pagosa Springs High School Photography club and spends as much time outside as possible.
