Stephen was born in Boston, MA and grew up in a small town south of the city. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from Springfield College in 2001 and his Diploma in Muscular Therapy from the Muscular Therapy Institute in 2003 before heading west for the wilds of Colorado. He landed in Glenwood Springs in October of '03 working as a massage therapist for the Hot Springs Resort. In 2005 he accepted a position at the Grand River Medical Center in their rehab dept. and as the athletic trainer for Coal Ridge High School. In 2007 Stephen and his wife, Melissa, decided to see some more of the country and moved to La Grande, OR where he was employed at Mountain Valley Therapy as the athletic trainer for La Grande High School. One year of missing the sun was enough and they decided to move back to Colorado, this time to Pagosa Springs.
Stephen worked as the athletic trainer for our amazing high school from 2008-2015 before leaving to earn his Master's degree in Exercise Science from the University of Northern Colorado. Throughout his time in Pagosa he had the honor of working with several state champions, including our Boys' & Girls' Basketball teams, 3 Wrestlers, and Pagosa's first ever 3-time state champion.
Upon returning from Greeley Stephen, with his heart set on teaching, earned his alternative teaching license from the Boettcher Teacher Residency Program in 2019. Stephen now has the distinct privilege of calling himself a teacher in Pagosa Springs.
Stephen has always had a love for the outdoors. You can find him hiking, trail running, mountain biking, snowboarding, snow shoeing, and of course...soaking in our hot springs.
