Week of March 17th, 2025 Special Announcements

*Volleyball Open Gym will be held in the PSHS gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays from April 1st through April 29th, from 6 PM to 8 PM. There will also be a Volleyball Meeting in the Library on March 19th during lunch for those interested in playing in the fall.

*Wrestling Awards Night for boys and girls wrestling is scheduled for Thursday, March 18th at 6:00 pm in the High School Commons. Please put it on your calendar.

*There will be a FBLA meeting for ALL MEMBERS attending the State Leadership Conference on Thursday at lunch in Mrs. Riggs' room.

*There is an FFA Officer interest meeting Monday 3/17. Anyone who is interested in running for FFA Office should be in attendance. In Mr. Fong's Room during lunch. Mr. Fong will be hosting CDE practice after school from 4-6 Mondays and Thursdays After School. Members only are required to practice an hour a week. This will continue till the end of April. FFA end of the year banquet is coming up at the end of April. If you want to check if you will be receiving an award or interested in an award application please talk to Mr. Fong as the deadline is coming up.

*The dental clinic that was scheduled for this week has been postponed till April 22nd, 23rd and 24th. We have received all of the consents for the participating students and cannot accept any more.

*On Tuesday there will be a potluck luncheon for Ruby Sisson Librarian Josie Snow. Please sign up in the library if you want to attend. There is also a card for Josie for you to sign on Mrs. K.'s desk. The Library is closed for regular lunch usage on Tuesday 3/18 and Wednesday 3/19 due to other commitments.

*Girls Regular Season Soccer practices start Monday, Feb 24th. Meet in the cafeteria wearing running shoes. Bring cleats, water, layers. Parent/Guardian meeting will be Thursday, Feb 27th after practice (5:30-6pm) in Coach Rice's room (C24).

*Track and Field practice starts on Monday, February 24th. We will meet in the lower bus lobby at 4:00PM. Please be dressed and ready for an outdoor workout.

*On Wednesday, The Americana Project will be playing their first lunch. Please pull up a chair and cheer these fine young musicians on.

*Mrs. K. and Mrs. Josie Snow (Pagosa Public Library) are hosting a Circus-Themed murder mystery lunch this Thursday, February 13th during Advisory and Lunch. The meal will be provided. If you want to participate, sign up in the library by end-of-day on Tuesday, March 11th. Due to the special murder mystery event, the library is closed for regular lunchtime usage on Thursday, February 13th.

*Girls soccer voluntary preseason will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 4th on the Softball Field from 4-5pm. Bring cleats, running shoes, water and layers.

*FBLA will be attending the District Leadership Conference in Alamosa on Wednesday, Feb. 5th. If you have any questions, ask an officer, Mr. Paniagua or Ms. Riggs.

*NHS will meet on Wednesday, February 5th at lunch in Ms. DeGuise's room (B-24). All NHS members are required to attend. Also, recycling is coming back to PSHS! PLease place paper and cardboard in the classroom blue bins. Aluminum cans should be deposited in the large green hallway bins. Glass and plastic should be thrown away in trash cans. Thank you for your help in separating trash from recyclables!

*Friday Dec. 20th the Cast of The Wizard of Oz is invited to the Liberty Theater for a special showing of Wicked. Bring Money for snacks and candy. One popcorn and drink will be provided.

*Come support your High School Band and Choir Dec. 18th at 7 PM in the Auditorium for their Winter Concert. We will be playing winter and Christmas music from our Concert Band, Concert Choir, and select soloists. The concert is free.

*Mrs. Kelly is helping students register for the Scholastics State Art Competition. If you would like to submit artwork come by THIS WEEK during lunch or advisory.

*Message from Mrs. Kubelka: As the semester draws ever nearer to a close, return or renew those books you have in your possession.

*NHS is selling Jinglegrams for a dollar. Send a friendly holiday message to your pals. Jinglegrams can be purchased from any NHS member until December 18th.

*The yearbook staff needs your opinion! A Google Form was sent to student emails with a poll asking students to tell us your favorites. Please take a moment and answer the questions so we can post the top choices in the yearbook. The poll needs to be taken by Friday, December 20th.

*There is a National Art Honors Society on Monday, December 2nd in Mrs. Kelly’s room.

*The trip to Ireland in June 2026 has changed to Ireland, London and Paris. If you are interested, stop by Mrs. Kelly’s art room. This trip is open to all high school students.

*All Girls who played fall sport and are NOT playing a winter sport, please clear out your lockers by Dec. 3rd. Lockers need to be issued to Winter Sports athletes.

*The skate ski season is about to begin! For more information, please attend an informational meeting in Mr. Kurz's room on Tuesday, December 3rd during lunch.

*Message from Mr. Fong: CDE Practices Starting This Week (Mondays, 4:00–7:30 PM)

Open House Practice begins this week! Feel free to stop by the Ag Shop anytime while Mr. Fong is in the room. Stay for as long as you like. Remember, you need 7 hours of in-person practice to qualify for the State Contest in April. Everyone is welcome—come practice for your team or explore a new contest.

*December 2nd is the next installment of Book Club. Meet in the library during lunch to talk about the Book Thief and find out what the next grand adventure will be.

*The yearbook staff has an assignment to take pictures throughout the day from December 2nd to December 13th to capture candid moments for the yearbook. Mrs. K. has asked that they be allowed to use their phones in class for this purpose only. Be prepared to be caught on camera! The staff plans to schedule a day with Griz to get any portraits of seniors or underclassmen who did not submit photos or make either of the school-planned picture days.

*Girls basketball begins today, Monday Nov. 18th. Practice begins at 4:00pm sharp in the gym. Please make sure all your paperwork and physicals are complete in Big Teams!

*Boys basketball tryouts will start Monday at 6:15pm. The practice will start at the time, make sure to arrive early around 6.

*Wrestling practice will begin Monday, Nov. 18th from 4:00 - 5:45 and continue throughout the week. If you do not have your paperwork completed you should still attend to watch and listen. If there are conflicts see Coach Janowsky.

*There is a mandatory NAHS meeting on Monday in Mrs. Kelly's classroom.

*Speech & Debate will have an organizational meeting on Tuesday, November 19th at 4:00pm in the Commons. We will discuss our regular meeting schedule and plan for a Spring Tournament. All questions are welcome at that time.

*FFA meeting Nov. 21 - Turkey bowling. Come try your luck at bowling with a frozen turkey at our second meeting this month. For every can of food you bring gives you one chance to play. Meeting is in Mr. Fong's class in the D building during lunch.

*Yearbook: Seniors - please get your yearbook information in ASAP so we can fill in the designated spaces in the yearbook with the pictures and words you took the time to choose rather than rush to think of. Also make sure your parent(s)/guardians have their wishes in before it is too late. We need your senior picture, baby picture (optional), beloved quote, favorite song, and parent wishes (optional) preferably before Thanksgiving Break next week. All - If you want your preferred name with your picture in the yearbook, please make sure to fill out the Google Form we sent in an email last week. If you do not do so by Thanksgiving Break, then we will be using the legal name registered in Infinite Campus. Also make sure to buy your yearbook before the price is raised again. *PSHS Theatre Department will be doing an audition workshop on November 13th at 6:00pm in the Theatre. Come learn how to prepare an audition piece, and get assistance with picking materials for your audition for the spring musical. We will be learning the dance steps that will be required when auditioning.

*If you plan on playing Winter sports, you need to update your paperwork in Big Teams Student Central. See Mrs. Rebecca if you need help.

*Wrestlers make sure your paperwork is ready for the start of the season. Pick up a flyer in the office or see Coach J for a flyer. Open mats begin Monday and Wednesday next week. Drop in and start getting ready.

*FBLA Members, the retreat has been rescheduled to Tuesday, November 5th. There's still time to join! Please see any officer candidate, Ms. Riggs or Mr. Paniagua if you have any questions.

*The Jostens Rep will be here on Tuesday, November 5th during lunch in the Commons to discuss graduation information and ordering.

*Seniors - The deadline for getting your senior pictures in is this Friday, November 1st. If you need an extension, please email the yearbook at [email protected].

*On Thursday, October 31st the yearbook is offering a one day only $5 off coupon for those who purchase their yearbook on that day. The coupon code is YearBOOk31.

*Wizard of Oz interest sign ups are in the counseling center and the music room. If you'd like more information on the musical add your name and email. This is not an audition form, it's just to receive information emails about the musical. Also, don't forget to sign up for the Spring Musical Bake Sale. The sign up sheet was sent out by Mrs. Krisha via email. Sign up to help make our show great!

*Anyone interested in traveling to Ireland in June 2026, meet in Mrs. Kelly's room during lunch on Monday. Teachers are welcome, too!

I have sent all photos I took to the advisors and collected all sent to me. If you want a retake because you would like a day that more of your students are here, please do so by November 1st. Also, I have no picture from C. Walker, Townsend, Deguise, J. Walker, and Hemenger. Please put it on your schedule to do so by November 1st. *Message from Mrs. Kubelka: Please be conservation minded and pick up any papers that you send to the library for printing in a timely manner. Right now there are many stacks of papers crying because they have been abandoned. Also please make sure to come to me if your document doesn't print the first time so she can troubleshoot the situation rather than multiples being printed once a problem is fixed.

*Juniors, We are offering the PSAT/NMSQT on October 14th. The PSAT/NMSQT is the test that qualifies you for the National Merit Scholarship Program. If you are interested in testing, we have 25 spots. Check your email for the registration link or stop by the counseling center. The deadline to register is September 22nd.

*Yearbooks are on sale! The price for September is $45 and it will go up as the year goes on, so buy your yearbook now. The yearbook staff also wants your help in making this year's volume awesome. Send your pictures via Walsworth SNAP app. To get the app, download it from your app store on your phone. The code for the app is PagosaYearbook25.
