This past spring, the high school was fortunate to receive a BEST grant to do safety upgrades to the high school building. Together with funds from the district, the high school will be brought closer to current safety standards being implemented in the construction of new school buildings. The upgrades will include warning sensors on all outside doors to warn the office when a door is opened. Outside door locks will be changed over to an electronic card system to better control access to the building. Also, a small office for our School Resource Officer will be built adjacent to the front entrance for better supervision of the parking lot and to control visitor access during school hours.
This week, school and district staff members met with the architects and contractors to work on finalizing the design of the project. The goal is to have the safety upgrades completed by this spring. We will keep you up to date with progress of the project.
