4th Quarter Grading Policy

In this unprecedented time we have tried to develop a fair grading policy to finish out the 4th quarter of the 2019-2020 school year while also:

  1. Keeping in mind the varied access students may have to material while not in our building.
  2. Remembering that our first priority at the time is the safety of all of our students and their families.
  3. Knowing that our teachers are not trained in remote learning and they are delivering instruction through platforms both they and the students are learning at the same time.
  4. Maintaining the integrity of the grades earned from the first three quarters.

The new grading policy for 4th quarter does not fully align with our 2019-2020 PSHS grading policy, but we feel it provides an equitable opportunity for all students to continue learning. Following are some details regarding the policy:

4th Quarter Grades:

All classes during 4th quarter will be assessed as pass/fail.

Transcript Grades for 2019-2020:

The letter grade on a student’s transcript will reflect the average of the 1st three quarters, as long as the student passes the 4th quarter. The first 3 quarters of the year was a time in which we saw our students face to face and high quality, rigorous education was taking place.

Retakes from 1st, 2nd, 3rd Quarters:

Students are still required to pass all summatives from the first 3 quarters. If a student has a 0 or INC, they should work with their teacher to retake those summative assessments. Please note that retakes are only for students who failed a summative assessment.

Advisory:

Students will be required to check in with their advisor at least once a week. If students check in with their once a week for the remainder of the school year, they will receive a passing grade in advisory for the year regardless of what their grade was in the previous three quarters.

Graduation Requirements:

The graduation requirements for PSHS will remain the same. There is no change.
