This is an introductory course of study in mechanical drawing which includes some sketching. Most of the drawings in this course are of machine parts using basic mechanical drawing tools. The subjects included are: sketching, lettering, two and three view drawings, section drawings, basic dimensioning techniques, and metric drawings. Basic computer aided drafting (CAD) is introduced. A portfolio of drawings is recommended for advanced studies. A competency/benchmark exam is used to demonstrate skills learned by board drawings and/or CAD. Independent work is introduced as well as employability and work skills.
