This course surveys world history from the emergence of civilization to the present day. Students will study political, social, economic and cultural forces in both Western and Non-Western Civilizations. The emphasis is on a theme study from these civilizations. This includes taking themes that can be compared to similar situations in the present society such as civil conflict, social problems, governmental issues, etc. The student will be evaluated on written tests, class projects, research projects, class participation, and a mandatory written final examination and demonstration.
