COURSE NAME: BROADCAST JOURNALISM
PREREQUISITE: JUNIOR OR SENIOR OR INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL; ONE COMPUTER CLASS
This course is designed for students who are interested in mass communication. The standards for this course relate to not only how mass media affects our culture, but also on the mechanics and the internal workings of the media. The study of communication will include television, film, news sources, and various pop-culture media. There will be a focus on key ideals related to journalism and journalistic integrity. Class members will learn from classroom studies, industry professionals, and hands-on experiences. Due to the nature of the course, students enrolled in the class should expect to work outside of school's regular hours to accomplish various projects. Students will meet Colorado content standards specific to media literacy. Throughout the course, students will demonstrate knowledge and understanding through planning and producing quality video projects using the school's video technology resources, and then broadcasting relevant material via PHTV.
